National Philanthropies
The Painted Turtle Camp's mission is to provide a life-changing camp experience for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Through fundraising, donating items, and volunteering, we're proud to help the children that it serves. The Painted Turtle is a place to celebrate being a kid and the joys of life. We are proud and honored to support such a great camp and the children that attend. For more information please visit http://www.thepaintedturtle.org In 1954, Delta Zeta's Convention body voted to make the cause of speech and hearing our national philanthropy. Starkey Hearing Foundation's Mission is to change the social consciousness of hearing and associated matters through education and research; while providing the gift of hearing to those in need around the world. Collegiate members help provide bears with hearing aid attachments from Build-a-Bear so that the children can have a "furry friend just like them." Local Philanthropy
In the Spring of 2011, the sisters of Delta Zeta's Xi Chi Chapter partnered with a new local philanthropy, Variety: The Children's Charity of Pittsburgh. This organization serves to help children with physical and mental disabilities. Our chapter has volunteered in events such as The Valentine's Day Dance and the Anniversary Gala. Variety's signature program is its "My Bike" Program which provides adaptive bikes customized for eligible children with disabilities. Parents have repeatedly told us that these bikes have an extraordinary impact - and giving children the joy, freedom, and belonging that comes with a bike.
